Hamilton Island Race Week – the count-down is on!
It’s on again and it’s promising to be one of the biggest and best regattas in the event’s history. Hailed as the southern hemispheres premier sailing regatta, Audi Hamilton Island Race Week brings together a fine mix of sailing the pristine Whitsundays waterways with world class accommodation and a spectacular line-up of onshore performances and events.
As the temperatures begin to drop in the southern states, the Whitsundays are warming up to host sailing enthusiast, friends and families from across Australia and around the world. Crews and families from yachts large and small come together to enjoy the camaraderie and excitement of this spectacular sailing regatta.
Due to be staged from 15th to the 22nd of August, it is not too late to consider participating in the 32nd Hamilton Island Race Week. If you do not own a yacht or have the time to relocate your own pride and joy to the Whitsundays, there are still charter yachts available for hire. Choose from a monohull or catamaran from Sunsail’s fleet based on Hamilton Island.
Don’t think you have to be a sailing legend or rock star to compete; all levels of racers are welcome to join in the fun of Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. To keep the racing evenly matched and enjoyable for all you, have a choice of which division you want to compete. The fleet is split into a number of classes which incorporate the prestigious Grand Prix class (for the top-class racers), an IRC Passage class (for the modern fast-cruising yachts), Performance Racing and Sports Boats classes (for the faster smaller boats) along with the fun and most popular class, the Cruising class. This year’s event has also added a corporate, bareboat (charter boat) and non-spinnaker division.
