The annual Clash of the Paddles, formerly known as the Hamilton Island Outrigger Cup, is four huge days of tough competition. This inaugural event is held on Hamilton Island from every June in partnership with the Australian Outrigging Canoe Association & more recently, Surf Live Saving Australia.
Although the Island’s popular annual paddling event is now known as Battle of the Paddles, outrigging will remain a major part of the event with the mighty 42 kilometer Hamilton Cup marathon continuing to uphold its status as one of the toughest outrigging canoe races in the world.
A range of vigorous and challenging races have been lined up for each divisions. The off-water social events for the Battle of the Paddles weekend are just as exciting offering something for everyone including the kids! Some of the other highlights include a range of viewing facilities during the day for non-paddlers, a Fun Zone for the kids, nightly food stalls by the marina offering a range of easy and tasty dinner options, live entertainment on Front Street, a Carb-up dinner the night before the big 42km Hamilton Cup Marathon & finally the closing ceremony and party on the last night which is not to be missed.
