It is one of the world’s most anticipated yachting events. Spectators, boating sportspeople and enthusiasts are sailing in from across the globe for an exciting line up of on and offshore events. With less than one week to go to Audi Hamilton Island Race Week there’s a buzz over and above the air of holiday excitement that normally engulfs the island.
Australia’s largest offshore keelboat regatta attracts the cream of the racing world and their friends, families and entourages, as well as thousands of spectators ready to have the time of their lives! The atmosphere on the island is amazing.
(One year as a treat, our founding director Kristie Kaighin put the entire team up in two luxurious apartments so we could experience the fantastic party atmosphere in a week filled with diverse events like lunches and dinners by celebrity chefs, fashion, golfing and wine tastings.) And that’s just the fiesta part of this unique Hamilton Island Event. The racing program includes Grand Prix class races, an IRC Passage class for modern, fast-cruising yachts, performance racing and sports boat classes, to name but a few.
The Hamilton Island Yacht Club and Marina is regatta central for Audi Race Week, easily our biggest event of the year courtesy of its international status.
Island accommodation is booked out well in advance but you can talk to us about anything to do with this famous Hamilton Island Event now, while we can barely contain our excitement.
Billed as the ultimate test of endurance in the ultimate location, you could not ask for a more idyllic setting for a fitness festival such as this. Triathletes swim in the Coral Sea waters of Catseye Bay, cycle the island (including a rare moment on the Hamilton Island Airport Runway) and run through the Marina Village cheered on by spectators and festivalgoers.
S-P-E-C-I-A-L. Want to see some of Australia’s finest golfers compete in the PGA Professionals Championship FINAL? It’s less than 3 months away so let’s put some plans in motion. Hamilton Island will again host this national final at Hamilton Island Golf Club, as well as the popular 3-day Amateur Stableford Event open to men and women amateurs and with over $5000 in prizes.
A rare opportunity to compete in an Ocean Swim at Whitehaven Beach, globally recognised for its pure sands and turquoise waters.
The Whitsunday Holidays team love Hamilton Island events and try to participate whenever we can. Clare is a shining example of this, having competed in the Triathlon. We’ve also accepted the challenge of the Hilly Half Marathon. (What you see is what you get!)
But it’s the pure enchantment of the setting that elevates every Hamilton Island event to something that is truly out of this world.
