Hamilton Island Golf Hits Full Swing

Hamilton Island Golf Hits Full Swing

Hamilton Island Golf hits full swing with the 2017 PGA Professionals Championship Final once again coming to one of the world’s finest golfing destinations, Hamilton Island. And it’s so close! Soon golfers, professionals, players and enthusiasts will begin to arrive in their droves and the whole island will swing into gear.

What we love about living here when these major events come to town are the side festivals that spring up around them. It’s a wonderful time of the year if you love to play golf, but it’s also about the entourages and the fun things that happen to support the activity. You get to hang out with a lot of passionate and sport loving people and Australians love that!

For golfers

In tandem with the PGA Final, Hamilton Island will also host a three-day event – the 36-hole Amateur Stableford Event. It includes a Pro-Am on day one followed by a 36-hole comp open to both men and women and limited to 50 spots. Prizes include two luxurious nights at Qualia. You get to play Peter Thomson’s legendary ridges and valleys on the 18-hole, Par-71 golf course he designed on Dent Island. The fairways are generally broad and the island’s natural mountainous landscape provides stunning 360-degree views year round.

Also on hand over the event will be some of the country’s leading teaching and club professionals. You’ll find plenty of committed golfers to compare notes with.

For anyone who loves to lunch

“The best thing about Hamilton Island golf is the lunch at the Club House at the end.”

While there’s no doubting that a round of golf on Hamilton Island is one of the great joys in life for golfers, for our intrepid founder Kristie Kaighin the lunch at the Clubhouse at the end is her favourite part.

The Clubhouse – a modern Australian tropical design perched high on Dent Island to catch the breezes – has incredible views of the surrounding islands and Coral Sea. There’s indoor and outdoor seating. The Clubhouse special, where lunch comes with a tour of the Clubhouse and return ferry links, gives everyone the opportunity for an exotic lunchtime adventure.

Bring the family

One of the great things about golf on Hamilton Island is how easy it is to find time for family play and a round or two of golf. With so much activity planned every single day of the year, you and the family will be spoilt for choice of what to do and where to go. Or maybe it’s straight to the sun loungers surrounding our numerous kid-friendly pools.

We have a wide range of self-contained accommodation options available year round

We source and maintain the pick of the island’s self-contained accommodation and personally visit all our properties on a regular basis. Let our boutique group of Whitsunday enthusiasts find the perfect place for your stay and help you with any tours or cruises you might like to take.
