What Do Self Contained Apartments Have That Hotels Don’t?

The differences between hotel accommodation and a self contained apartment really come into their own in The Whitsundays. But while you may know the benefits of ‘self contained’, be careful when choosing your accommodation on Hamilton Island.

Know what you are looking for

Self contained accommodation can be a great way to save cash while you are on your holiday and is usually much better value than a hotel, especially for groups. Those of us in favour of holiday apartments will attest to the privacy and space advantages. Nothing beats a full kitchen and laundry (we don’t like to think of doing laundry on a lovely holiday either, but if needs be, you’ll have one). First things first, know what you are looking for.

The 1 bedroom indulgence

One of the biggest pluses for being able to wander out to your fridge and cook up a storm in the kitchen or on the balcony is of course, that this can occur any time of the day. Breakfast at 12pm (or 12am for that matter)? Not a problem. Couples love the freedom and privacy a 1 bedroom self contained apartment can give them.

The 2 bedroom hangout

Holidaying with your best couple friends? A 2 bedroom apartment is the perfect scenario. You can each have your own private quarters, with a kitchen/living area and balcony for sunset barbecues and hanging out when you’re not on the beach. (Also a popular option with families of 4 to 6.)

The sprawling apartment

Big groups and families love the extra space and amenities that come with a 3 (4 or 5) bedroom apartment. The cost savings and convenience far outweigh hotel options and most will usually have blocked off areas to keep everyone happy.

An exclusive island home

With a healthy selection of private homes on Hamilton Island, many of which are exclusive to Hamilton Island luxury homes, large groups and families travelling together can find real value and enjoy the opulent lifestyle of a contemporary island property for your own personal use.

Does your booking service have a local presence?

This is important for a number of reasons. Help, advice and information is available 7 days a week from people who are local to the area and know the tours and tour operators to suit your purposes. We personally inspect a property prior to listing. We keep in touch with the on island caretakers regarding the condition and maintenance of our more than 60 apartment and luxury home listings, so what you see will always be what you get.

It’s the little extras that count

A Whitsunday Holidays complimentary buggy – the only and best transport for getting around Hamilton Island – will set you back $99 per day at the hotel. Cots and high chairs are also provided at no additional cost. (Hotel charges like these can really mount up.) And on Hamilton Island all the resort pools and facilities are open to everyone (including the crowd favourite with swim up bar).
